I love our Thanksgiving traditions:
Food - Our Thanksgiving feast is very traditional (except we don't do cranberry sauce).
Family - As many as we can get into one house. Lots of noise, laughter and confussion.
Lum and Abner - No Thanksgiving is complete without listening to our favorite Thanksgiving story, Chester the Turkey. Lum and Abner is an old radio show and this is my favorite! One year my girls memorized it and performed it as a skit...too funny!
Singing - We have several songs fit for the occassion. "Over the River and Through the Woods", "5 Fat Turkeys Are We", and "There's a Big Fat Turkey Out On Grandpas Farm". I've included a couple of Youtube versions of "Over the River..."

ReplyDeleteYour description of Thanksgiving sounds so fun!! Enjoy it
ReplyDeleteI think the fellow in the first video might have had a bit too much of something that isn't traditionally served on THANKSgiving!! ha! ha! HOPE you have a blessed day, sweet lady!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great holiday! We have a Thanksgiving Day breakfast with pumpkin pancakes. The kids love it!
ReplyDeleteLove "confussion". You know I thought the funny version of Over the river and through the woods WAS traditional. I never heard it like the second video. They made it pretty.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a wonderful holiday with lots of traditions. I always go to my moms house and then we go shopping at midnight. It's a lot of fun, food, and no sleep but we love it!
ReplyDeleteSpecial occasions such as Thanksgiving are probably the only time when confusion becomes fun. Nothing beats getting together with the whole family, right? Throw in some delicious food, and you're all set.
ReplyDeleteWe use to have a game day for your Thanksgiving and Christmas Tradition. Now it is becoming a Skype day. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteGreat family traditions you have! I love that you sing at Thanksgiving. We aren't a singing family, but the day after Thanksgiving, watch out! I am belting out every holiday tune my horrible voice can sing lol.
ReplyDeleteI love Over the River it just feels "Thankgiving-y."
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
That sounds like a wonderful time! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteHappy THANKSgiving, my sweet friend. HOPE you have a great day and make a lot of new memories!!!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about everyone's wonderful traditions. Pumpkin pancakes sound like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteSo many things to be thankful for, it's easy to loose track. But we're so thankful for everything the Lord provides for us everyday. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure if you got my message. But, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Take care, Barbara
ReplyDeleteNo Cranberrry Sauce?? LOL, I usually have cranberry sauce every year, but this year I didn't get it made and I don't do canned.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Funny. I'm not really into cranberries either. We always have a nice gathering at my brother-in-law's, and I'm a bit spoiled there, having to travel, and miss all of the preparation part. I still miss my mom's cooking every year though;)
ReplyDeleteStopping by to wish you a happy belated Thanksgiving and a Happy Sunday to you.
