The Widow's Mite - Authors Interview

You might remember my Mondays Holiday Shoppe post on the Christmas book 'THE WIDOWS MITE' by Christina Dymock, (which you have a chance to win at my Wordless Wednesday Caption Contest!)
Here is an excerpt from my review:

One of my most favorite things to do as the
holidays grow nearer is to read Christmas
stories.  Stories that remind me to remember
what Christmas is all about. Recently I read my
first book for the holidays.  I know it’s a bit
soon, but my dear friend, Christina Dymock,
has just published her new book,
THE WIDOW’S MITE...and I couldn’t
wait to read it!  Her story is thought provoking
and written for the women of our times.
It is a gentle and ‘easy read’ story, perfect
for the holidays!

As promised, I said I was going to give you an Authors Interview with Christina Dymock so you could get to know this amazing woman better!

Hi, Chrissy and welcome,

What prompted you to choose a Christmas setting for THE WIDOW’S MITE?

Cedar Fort Publishers advertised a writing contest for Christmas stories clear back in April. My husband heard about it on the radio and, being the wonderful guy he is, called immediately to tell me about it. I spent two hectic days/night writing, editing, and proofreading before the contest closed on that Friday morning.

Do you feel you relate to anyone specific in the story…why

I think there’s a little of me in Carol. She is a strong, determined person who relies heavily of Heavenly Father. She doesn’t always listen when prompted and regrets it later – I do that sometimes too.

Give us several "Good to Know" facts about you. Tell us about your first job, your likes and dislikes, your interests and hobbies, your favorite ways to unwind — whatever comes to mind.

My first job was selling shoes. I was 16 and determined to make my way, in some way, in the world. It was a good experience. Fortunately for me, I’ve always been level headed when it comes to my footwear – otherwise I would have spent all my money before I left the store.

I enjoy running. Sounds like a contradiction in terms: enjoy and run? But I really do. I love the way it makes me feel and the endorphin rush that follows. There’s also an emotional cleansing that comes from a nice long run. (For me that’s only 4-6 miles.) My favorite race – ever – was the Dirty Dash at Soldier Hollow.

Things I like: Chocolate; long, hot showers; baseball games; wakeboarding/boating; sewing; crocheting; knitting; teaching; baked goods; a creative turn on words; Fall; cross country skiing; board games; making my children laugh; and, of course, reading.

Things I don’t like: Calamari; whining; and being cold.

As a Mom with young children, I would think it would be difficult to just stash yourself away when the writing inspiration comes…what happens in your home when Mommy needs to write?

I can usually get some writing in right after my two oldest go to the bus stop in the morning. My two younger ones are freshly fed and clothed and happy to play together. If I take my laptop into their room I can supervise while they play. It’s not too hard to find time to write; it is hard to find time to do laundry.

If you had a choice to sit and read a good book or be out in the great outdoors, which would you prefer? Explain…

Can I read a good book in the great outdoors? My dream day is taking a boat out on a lake, dropping anchor, soaking up some sun and reading while I sip my Peach Fresca. (Alas, I don’t have a boat or an anchor. Sigh.)

Thanks for the interview Chrissy, now I'm going to brag about you a bit!

Chrissy has 2 really fun blogs:  My Amature Adventures and Kids-able Treats .  When you read her blogs, you'll find her activities range from cutting firewood in an old cherry orchard, to encountering a skunk on her daily run!  She makes her own applesauce and laundry soap!  Baking delectable desserts and sewing items such as Darth Vader capes keep her days busy!  She is a fun Mom and loves life!

Go to her sites and get to know this woman who's knee deep in the
"Qwest for the Spice of Life!"

Remember you have a chance to win her book THE WIDOWS MITE in my Wordless Wednesday Caption Contest, or if you don't want to wait, can purchase it from Cedar Fort Publications HERE!

I want to thank Chrissy for the interview and for sharing with us!
