What To Expect From Friends

I'm not sure where this came from, but this acrostic gets right to the heart of what we want and need from our friends.

F - forgiving
R - respects your standards
I - inspires you to be like Christ
E - example
N - nice and kind
D - dependable and loyal

When I reminisce about the friends I've had in the past, my best friend when I was a child was Shar. We were neighbors and inseparable.

In high school I was part of a group of young men and women who met all the 'friend' criteria. We had such fun together. I knew I could have a good time and be safe with these kids.

When I became an adult, my best friend became my husband CL. He knows me pretty good and still likes me...

Other friends include my parents, and some special bloggy friends. Even some of my children and siblings are my friends. Pretty cool!

Of course the best of all best friends are my Heavenly Father, his son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Without these 3 in my life I would not be the woman I am now.

Who are some of your friends and what do you look for in a friend?

Next week I'd like to discuss what our friends should expect from us. I hope you'll join in the conversation.

  3. This is so great. I talk to my daughter all the time about the importance of making the right type of friends. Many kids get hang up on the fact that friends can be just anyone - but not when they're bullying, doing drugs or abusing alcohol. Thanks for the post :)

  9. I love this post because where I live finding a true friend is really difficult. Everybody has an agenda. I think turning to Christ as your best friend will help ensure you are never alone or isolated!

  10. Following GFC. Very nice friend post and it reminds me of a song but I can't think of the name or who sings it. I think the name is You've got a friend.
