Autumn Is In The Air

Some of the things I love most about Autumn:

On cold stormy days snuggling in a warm blanket with a good classic movie! Cary Grant anyone?
    • Several years ago, CL and I ran away together for a whole week. (Believe me, with 11 children this doesn't happen very often.)  It was autumn time...and he bought me this CD.  I love to bring it out when the air begins to feel crisp and remember what fun we had being alone together!
    Autumn In New England

    • My 5 girls and I love watching this movie together.  It has some good young girl romance...and prince charming is very handsome...and who can resist Burl Ives singing 'The Ugly Bug Ball'?

    Summer Magic

    • My sisters and nieces and I would gather together at my youngest sisters house for 2 days of Old scary movies and enough junk food to scare-your-pants-off!  We Began calling it HORROR WEEKEND
The Fall of the House of Usher /The Pit and the Pendulum

    • And the thing that makes Autumn come to life is of course the beautiful colors...I planted this Virginia Creeper in our Sweet Memories Garden because of it's beautiful and brilliant fall colors!

The smell of apples and leaves...
    Warm apple cider...
    and the apple press!

Before my parents passed away, we would all meet at their home and spend days and days pressing bushels of apples into juice...a very fond memory.

      • Fall brings with it so many sights, smells, and memories...What are some of the things you enjoy about Autumn? I would love to hear from you...

      1. Fall, yes it is refreshing after a long summer drought....the body coming alive for a season before it is time to snuggle down in layers and layers of clothing...Fall reminds me of my oldest son, Craig. He loved the fall, his passion for hunting was beyond words....he would get a frisky and excited...hit the woods for discovery of markings ...etc .... Thanksgiving was the last holiday I had with him, that last time I saw him alive ...the next time was the day after he was killed ...12-18-96 ...so fall in some ways is bittersweet for me...but I hang onto the wonderfu memories, the sweet reminders, and the promise that I will be reunited with him and it will be like Fall ... after a long summer draught I will finall experience Craig again...how refreshing!

      2. That Virginia creeper is beautiful. Nothing in NJ is changing quite yet. Our Mother Nature is still trying to decide when enough is enough with the warm and wet weather. :-) Have a great day!

      3. Hayley Mills used to be my favorite actress. That was a long, long time ago.

Horror weekend sounds so much fun. I have one sister who lives fairly close and I wish my one sister lived closer so we could do this together.

Now wonder you like fall so much!

      4. I do love the fall. The leaves haven't really started changing here yet, but that's what I love most about this time of year - colorful leaves, and what I like to call "pot foods" - toss everything in a pot and let it simmer. Yum.

      7. Becky,

I love autumn. It is my favorite time of the year. I love the sound of leaves scurrying over the road. I love the smell of campfires. Cary Grant, they don't make them like that anymore. Arsenic and Old Lace is my absolute favorite Cary Grant movie. It is perfect for autumn.

        Love ya,

        Your Friend,

        Tina

      12. Those pictures of the Virginia creeper are stunning! I love autumn. Since moving south, it has become my favorite time of year. I love the moderate temperatures that we get down here. But I also love the colors. It is my favorite pallet. When fall comes around, I decorate my heart out with the most natural decor I can find. I don't even celebrate Halloween because I don't want the jack-o-lanterns, spider webs and witches hats to mess with the leaves, pumpkins and apples. Oh and the apple cider! Yum! And hay rides, and apple picking, and all the yummy treats you can bake. Now you've got me all giddy! Lol!

Now a am so lucky to be able to share grape harvesting with my grandchildren. This will be the first year any are old enough to help with picking. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
