As an introduction, my daughter, Dot, is the mother of 2
children, she wanted to take her kids to the corn maze for a fun
adventure. Everyone was excited and
having a great time until things started to go wrong…
Take 2 kids ages 4 and 8, set them in a newly cut corn maze
with no water (because the 4 year old dumped it all out) and little food on a
hot autumn day AND this is what will happen…
- I’m thirsty!
- This is taking too long!
- I’m hungry!
- Why did you bring us here?
- We’ll never find our way out!
- I wish I had my horse, and then I could get out!
- I wish Daddy was here…he’d save us!
- We’re going to die in here! (this is my favorite)
- There’s no way out! (Evidently there was no way out, so they finally just cut through the corn and headed towards the sound of cars on the freeway!)
- I hate corn mazes!
- Why did you make us come?
Kids can say the funniest things. I don't understand why people do corn mazes either. There was just a thing on the today show the other morning about a lady getting lost in one with her 3 week old. She ended up calling 911 because it got dark and they couldn't find their way out.
ReplyDeleteIs that not our general behaviour ...what we thought would be fun, exciting and the "most" turns out difficult and we become angry, scornful, and want out...I thought of marriage as I read this...the Marriage Maze....every moment every day is a different turn of learning to trust and be led by the Holy Spirit, and to lean upon each other as they "trek through the maze" of learning to share life....as ONE .... wonderful thoughts provoked by your blog this morning Becky Jane! Hugs from Arkansas
ReplyDeleteLol! I remember thinking and saying most of these when my parents attempted a corn maze when I was a child. In retrospect, it should have been fun, and I have every intention of trying it with my children. But when the whining begins, at least I can sympathize!
ReplyDeleteI love when kids first reaction to things like that is "we are going to die" I have a kid like that and he always cracks me up!! I would never go in a corn maze becasue I would be there until the following year, so bad is my sense of direction!! Glad they all survived!!! Very funny, thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDelete"We're going to die in here," LOL. That's freaking funny. I just read a story yesterday about a couple and their kid who got lost in a corn maze. Sure it wasn't your family?? *wink*
ReplyDeleteMucho luv
Sharon
ah, life as momma....its never good enough, LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is hysterical...and I can totally see it happening in my household one day (if we can ever find a corn maze in South Florida). Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That is so funny. I have never been to a corn maze and I vowed this year we are going to go as a family. I just know, our experience will mirror yours. Still, I will have a great time! Thanks for sharing your funny with us, I love it. Jana http://www.adoctorandanurse.com
ReplyDeleteLOL, this is so funny. I can actually hear the kids say this, experiencing similar situations.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to read my post today "Bible Humor" I think it will make you smile. http://canadianmom-whatsonmymind.blogspot.com/2011/10/some-bible-humor.html
Make it a great day! Blessings Always!

I'm with you. Corn mazes are not my favorite. I heard this past week someone actually called 911 from a corn maze...but I don't know the story behind that.
ReplyDeleteKids are so funny!! It seems like no matter what the situation they ALWAYS become hungry, thirsty, or think they are going to die!!!
ReplyDeleteThe last corn maze I went to, I tramped in dog poop and don't ever want to go to one again.
ReplyDeleteTo bad someone didn't jump out and say Boo to the kids.
Did you see on the National News last night that someone actually called 911 lost in a corn maze this past week?!?! :) Miss you!
ReplyDeleteI guess it was finally an adventure not necessarily for the mom, though, right??? You must wonder how they would do on a pumpkin patch?
ReplyDeleteHa! Been there, done that! Except, mine would be dodging through the stalks of corn and we'd have to post a parent on each end while sending older siblings into fish them out. :-)

Aww...I will definitely have to remember all of this for the future! I cracked up at " I wish I had my horse". That was too adorable.
ReplyDeleteHahahha! I LOVE the one about Daddy saving them. Isn't that just the truth? Mom does it ALL and all they want is Daddy.
ReplyDeleteAnd we're going to die here. LOL. Hilarious!
I can't wait to take my kids to a corn maze this year. Which one did you go to? I'm in Utah too...there's an awesome little farm in Orem that we go to each year.
@Volcano, Our's is near Payson! I bet the one in Orem is great!
ReplyDeleteI read this again and I still love the We are going to die line!! My son would be saying the same thing!!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! It has such a familiar ring to it, even though I've never taken my kids through a maze. I think if we do, we'll go to one of those hay bales ones that you can see out of, lol!
ReplyDeleteBecky,
ReplyDeleteDid you hear about the family who had to call 9-1-1 to get out of the corn maze? Apparently the place closed, it was dark, and no one came to get them. It turned out they were only 25 ft. from the entrance. They were too embarrassed to appear on camera. Oops!
We’re going to die in here! - This made me laugh until my tummy aches!
ReplyDeleteThese little bundles say funniest things sometimes and whatever we think they would enjoy they may not always.. and the vice versa also happens..
Still they are darn cute to be with!
Kids are so funny! I remember playing in the corn fields when I was younger...a lot younger!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from VoiceBoks!
Not so much fun. I have never been in a corn maze but, I have always wanted to try one.
ReplyDeleteI loved this lol! So adorable! Kids are amazing!!
