The Biggest Threat To My New Years Resolutions

We've all been working on our New Years Resolutions for a week now!  How is everyone doing?  If you're like me, I've been doing pretty good.  But I'm entering my 'Danger Zone'.  The other day, a friend of mine taught me a new word that sums up my 'Danger Zone':

Rationalize

Actually, it's not a new word, but what she taught me about this word was new and I'm applying to the threat that is so common to anyone who sets goals.  We all know how it goes...We get all excited to set new goals and we have great intentions of achieving those goals.

At first, we do really well then something happens...we begin  to rationalize.

The old and familiar habits want to creep back...

Take a look at the word Rationalize...break it down, and what have you got?

Nothing but RATIONAL-LIES!

Our excuses sound rational,
but they're really only lies!!!
LOL

  1. Miss Becky! Thanks for reminding me that I need to get my butt to the gym this AM and quit rationalizing! It's all about discipline at the end of the day and spiritually, I feel so much better when my efforts are in alignment with my goals. Congrats on being featured!

  4. Ok, well, that explains it all; I've been doing these poor rationalizations all my life. Thank goodness I come to you for clarity. That was awesome by the way.

  5. Congrats on being a featured member at voiceboks. I love that you've broken down the word but I plan to defeat this rationalizing! I have to. One of my goals besides increasing my business is to finally transform myself into the person I really want to be: check out my other blog at: kgstransformation.blogspot.com

  10. Oh my goodness that so fits! Rational--LIES! I need to post this somewhere!

We're doing fairly good with my 2 major goals for this year; get fit and improve my blog. But you are right; I'm reaching my "danger zone" this week; as I had a fleeting thought..."what would it hurt, to have just one soda? It's a nice relaxing nightly ritual I used to have"...yeah..that's one reason why I'm out of shape now!
Congrats on being a Featured member this week on VB!

  16. Love this! It made me smile, but it is also so very true. I didn't make any resolutions this year. I don't typically- except to have a better year than I did the last year. :)

  17. That's funny. I rationalize, but usually in a good way. Like when my husband and I don't agree on something. I begin to rationalize to try to see where he's coming from. I haven't really even begun my New Year's Resolutions, as I didn't really even make them. I have some things in mind that I want to change, but I'm going to take baby steps. Happy Wednesday to you. Good Luck on your resolutions
