As most of you know, we're in the process of building a new home. We should be in in about 3 more weeks. CL and I were at the cottage while some things were being installed. After awhile it was just CL and I. It had been drizzling rain and was a bit cold. We decided...
...it was the perfect, cold, rainy day for a picnic.
The clouds were hanging low on the mountains
The view of the mountain from our front porch was breathtaking!
CL ran to Wendy's while I got the dining table ready.
We sat by the fire and enjoyed a romantic dinner. (You have to look hard for the fireplace, but Napoleon is there hiding behind the box.)
It reminded me of how small and meager our life style was when we were first married.
Small moments can make HUGE memories!
Bonus material:
Here is something I designed for one of our walls...can you guess what it is? (The idea is not my own original, but I took something I saw and turned it into this.)
Wow! What a view!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is a family tree on your wall...love it!
Sometimes, I wonder how my life would be if I was back to the days when money was tight. I had fun then.... not that life is not fun now. I am just wondering how life would be for me now.... IF!!
ReplyDeleteIs that going to be a family tree of some sort that you are working on??
I know what you mean Terry. When CL and I were first married we had no furniture and no TV; just a big overstuffed pillow and a radio. Every Wednesday night we'd curl up on the pillow and listen to Mystery Theater on the radio. One of my fondest memories!
DeleteMore awesome memories going into the BooK of memories...to cherish later ....I know you are excited and yes the view of the mountains, clouds, blues skies are awesome
ReplyDeleteSweet Memories!
DeleteWhat a fun date. I love it. Glad your house is coming along. I haven't seen that wall art before. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteCL and the kids aren't quite sure about my little work of art, I just hope they like it when it's all finished.
DeleteAwe...such a fun and sweet date. Thanks for popping over to see me. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI think its the family tree...will photos fill the spaces...so cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow...what fun...it's nice to remember those simplier times isn't it? My guess is that your design is a "family tree" for placing those memorable family photos. ~Hugs, xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend an afternoon :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet its a family tree of sorts. The cloud photos are beautiful. Only three weeks left. Wow, I can't wait to see the final touches.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new home. It'll be great to have that view to wake up to every morning.
ReplyDeleteBecky... what a special time!! Who needs romantic dinners at expensive restaurants? (well maybe once in a while) :) The simple things in life are often the best. Love the wall... family tree?
ReplyDeleteWhat a view!!
ReplyDeleteoh, that's a big big blessing to have that kind of magnificent view right in your front porch! Sweet moment with hubby :)
ReplyDeleteand that wood works? I bet that's going to be your family tree? :)
Spanish Pinay
What a gorgeous view you have from your front porch...WOW!!! And, what a great romantic dinner you had with your sweetie!!! Hey, did I miss the post about what you named your family/dining room?!?!? I can't remember?!?!?!? And....is that a bookshelf....or a tree of shelves for pictures of your family?!?!? What a neat idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't decided on the name. So many cool names were submitted I haven't decided yet.
DeleteOh how fun! Love your view.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, your first meal in your new house, thanks for inviting us all!!! The thing you made, it looks like some kind of tree? Maybe a family tree...but could be used as shelves as well. I am interested to find out. You are almost ready to move in!!! How did you ever get them to finish so soon, all I have heard is horror stories from other people about over a year in building. You had asked about the flower pot. She used regular grout, the smooth kind not the grainy. Then just spread it on with a knife of some kind, thick enough to be able to embed the things. It is cheap and easy. But it does take four or five days to dry.
ReplyDeleteGinny, Our general contractors have been so awesome to work with.
DeleteThanks for the info about the flower pot. i still am awestruck at how cute it is.
OOOOHHHHHH, we had a picnic in our house too. SOOOO FUN!!!! I loved sitting with the fam on upturned paint buckets dreaming about the joy our home would hold. We have had more joy and adventure living here than I had ever guessed possible, but I LOVE IT!!!!
ReplyDelete<3 the family tree :)
I hope we have as much fun as you! Thanks Karen.
DeleteSoooo excited for you! And I think ordinary moments with my spouse are sometimes the very most romantic! My guess - a book shelf tree?
ReplyDeletethat bonus has GOT to be a family tree right? :)
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait 3 more weeks to see the final product! I'm so excited that it's almost finished!!
I can't wait either...my tummy is in turmoil a LOT! :O)
DeleteI love, love, love this post, Becky. The simplest things can be the VERY best. Your view from your house is amazing. That must really inspire you to write! Is that design on the wall for your family tree?
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
~Erin
WOW what a view - I would drink that in every day too if I could.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on almost being home!
