Our Cottage

We had our first picnic in our cottage...

As most of you know, we're in the process of building a new home. We should be in in about 3 more weeks. CL and I were at the cottage while some things were being installed. After awhile it was just CL and I. It had been drizzling rain and was a bit cold. We decided...

...it was the perfect, cold, rainy day for a picnic.

The clouds were hanging low on the mountains

The view of the mountain from our front porch was breathtaking!

CL ran to Wendy's while I got the dining table ready.

We sat by the fire and enjoyed a romantic dinner. (You have to look hard for the fireplace, but Napoleon is there hiding behind the box.)

It reminded me of how small and meager our life style was when we were first married.

Small moments can make HUGE memories!

Bonus material:
Here is something I designed for one of our walls...can you guess what it is?  (The idea is not my own original, but I took something I saw and turned it into this.)

  2. Sometimes, I wonder how my life would be if I was back to the days when money was tight. I had fun then.... not that life is not fun now. I am just wondering how life would be for me now.... IF!!

Is that going to be a family tree of some sort that you are working on??

    1. I know what you mean Terry. When CL and I were first married we had no furniture and no TV; just a big overstuffed pillow and a radio. Every Wednesday night we'd curl up on the pillow and listen to Mystery Theater on the radio. One of my fondest memories!

  7. Wow...what fun...it's nice to remember those simplier times isn't it? My guess is that your design is a "family tree" for placing those memorable family photos. ~Hugs, xoxo

  14. Very cool, your first meal in your new house, thanks for inviting us all!!! The thing you made, it looks like some kind of tree? Maybe a family tree...but could be used as shelves as well. I am interested to find out. You are almost ready to move in!!! How did you ever get them to finish so soon, all I have heard is horror stories from other people about over a year in building. You had asked about the flower pot. She used regular grout, the smooth kind not the grainy. Then just spread it on with a knife of some kind, thick enough to be able to embed the things. It is cheap and easy. But it does take four or five days to dry.
