Our Cottage - Moving In

Our cottage is now becoming our home. After living in a hotel for 3 1/2 months we were able to move into our newly built home.  First of all, I have to say that the Lord has been so mindful of us. (I'm glad the hotel life is over, but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.  Lots was learned!)

Moving Day -
It all started on a Friday afternoon, we knew the final inspection on the house was taking place.  (If all went well we could move in immediately.  But, if there were any big issues, it would be another 3-5 days before we could move in.)  We had a family prayer that the inspection would go well, but we also knew the Lord has His own time frame...

After prayer, CL and the kids and I went shopping to get our minds off the stress.

Thank you Wal-Mart.

We bought the dumbest stuff, but at least we weren't sitting in our hotel room pulling our hair out.

After a few hours shopping, we needed a change of scenery, let's face it, Wal-Mart can only hold our attention for so long...the kids wanted to go back to the hotel and play video games, so we dropped them off and CL and I went to Home Depot.

As we pulled into Home Depots parking lot...our general contractor called and said the final inspection was over. There were a few little problems and one BIG problem.

My heart sank...I knew we could survive a few more days of hotel life, but I didn't want to...I wanted to begin living in my new house NOW!

The general contractor continued saying the little problems were a few plumbing issues which were easy to fix.

The BIG problem is....how are we going to get all your stuff moved into your new home TONIGHT!

All the general contractor heard from my end of the phone were tears and sobbings.

CL was sitting next to me in the van and could hear what was going on...we looked at eachother, cried, said a prayer of thanksgiving, and hugged eachother tightly...

We rushed into Home Depot grabbed what we needed, rushed to the hotel and shared the super-duper news with our kids, then  made a few phone calls and headed to the storage unit!

This looks pretty scary, but with the help of some of our kids and 12 men from our Ward (Congregation), we were able to get all this in to the house.

Friday night we spent NOT scrunched into a hotel room but sleeping happily in our new home.

Tomorrow, we'll take a peek inside the kitchen! Hope you'll stop by!

  10. It really looks lovely and I had to chuckle. If you are like me I'm sure the first days at the motel seemed like an adventure and then reality sets in and you wonder when it will end. Best wishes to you and your new home.
