What Is Your Favorite Scripture?

The scriptures have played an important roll for me my entire life.  During my lifetime, different scriptures have reached out and spoken deeply to my heart and soul!  When my parents passed away, one of the items I wanted most of all was their sets' of scriptures.

I wanted to see what scriptures they had marked and ponder why these particular verses were important enough to them that they would mark them! Sadly, (not really), they went to one of my brothers...I tried to trade with him, but he wanted their scriptures as much as I did.
Two of my most favorite scriptures are:
Isaiah 53

  • This entire chapter maps out the Lords life.  How he has suffered for us is expressed so beautifully in vs -

¶Surely he hath aborne our bgriefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was awounded for our btransgressionshe was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his cstripes we are dhealed.

Romans 5:7-8
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet asinnersbChrist died for us.

  • These two verses reaffirm how much HE loves us!  When teaching my Sunday Classes, I like to ask,"How MUCH does God love us?"

I love hearing about others favorite scriptures!

  1. Right now I'm really liking Isaiah 55 (all of it). It is just a really powerful scripture.

  3. My favorite Scripture is Hebrews 13:5,6 AMP
"For He, God Himself, has said, I will not in any way fail you, nor give you up, nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake you, nor let you down, relax my hold on you, assuredly not. So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my helper. I will not be seized with alarm. I will not fear or dread or be terrified." This is my favorite because I have held on to this promise countless times in my life and He has never let me down!
    Love you!

  4. My favorite is Doctrine and Covenants 78:19
"And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious: and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more."

To me, this says that we are not going to be given more blessings if we aren't first grateful for what the ones we have.

  5. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    Jeremial 29:11

  6. For me; have you ever read that book by John Bytheway called "When Times Are Tough: 5 Scriptures That Will Help You Get Through Almost Anything"? Yeah; that basically sums it all up. I lived off of those scriptures when my husband was deployed and it wasn't even until the middle of his deployment that I found that book which contained all those scriptures! I also love "And this too shall pass" just out of Irony because it is one my mother is known for saying with just about anything. It is so common we rarely think about it deeply; but when those hard times come; I can always hear her loving voice say "and this too shall pass".

I wanted to stop by and let you know that your blog has been featured and awarded on MY blog
