Okay, That Was Scary

I've been in 2 auto accidents during my life time.  Compared to some, that's not very many, but for me, it's 2 to many.  The first one was when I was 18 years old and there was a fatality.  It changed my life forever.  The second accident was when I was just 1 month pregnant with my first child.  I worried and worried that I would loose her...But as you can see HERE, I didn't.

Since then I've learned to say a little prayer for protection when driving with weirdos all about me traveling at the speed of light.

It's just a short little prayer thanking HIM for my protection thus far and asking for HIM to keep protecting me. Saturday, it paid off...

CL and I were driving home from a long day of shopping and dating!  We were on the back roads headed home when the car in front of us decided to make a u-turn without seeing us.  CL swerved to miss hitting them, but this sent us straight towards a ditch so he had to swerve back, just missing the vehicle in front of us.  I was terrified. Thank heavens, CL was oblivious to my screaming calm gasps for air! If there had been a car coming the opposite direction, we would have been road kill toast!

We don't swear, but we did utter a few words of fright indignation!  Both of us were shaking, so CL pulled off and we said a grateful prayer of thanks. The Lord truly interceded in our behalf.

  6. We have had a few extremely close calls while driving. Once, a car crossed the double line and headed straight for us. I had my handle on the door to jump out, but would have been killed. When Paul tells us to pray without ceasing, I think this is what he means. To be aware of God as the one who loves us, and shooting up little prayers all day long, he loves it so much when we come to him like this. I am so glad you found me, you have a lovely blog!!! So nice to meet you and get to know you.

  7. Whew that was close Becky Jane. When I was pregnant with Little Bit I actually developed a fear of driving and being in a car. People are scary!

  8. Because Jim and I traveled so much, we always prayed before starting out. I'm here today to tell you that in all those years on the road as a travel writer doing research, we had some close calls. A couple of those were times when I knew we were about to die. Talk about God's intervention. To this day, there is no other explanation for our not being hit and hurt or killed other than God's intervention. There were times when we stopped and looked at one another and thanked God for saving us from what appeared to be a fatal accident coming at us. Oh, the stories I could tell you about those particular times. God is faithful.

  9. So thankful it was just a scream and not a wreck...close calls happen too often. I do thank God for His safety when we drive, etc

  11. Oh my goodness. That's such a scary thing. I was also in an accident when I was pregnant. I was in my seventh month with my second baby when someone ran a stop sign and we t-boned them on a slick road. Fortunately, I did not go into early labor. I have been protected by my guardian angel on many occasions.

Thanks for coming by Grams Made It. I look forward to hearing from you about what you know now that you didn't know then.

  12. How scary! I am glad you are alright! I have been in several, mainly when I was a kid. Very scary, and it's the reason I fear driving :(

  14. God was surely with you that time. Thankfully you're ok...shaken, but ok.

Thanks for reminding me to say a little prayer everytime I'm out on the road. Yes, there are a lot of lunatics out there.

  16. Oh boy! That would scare me to!

I've been in a few, but nothing that caused too much damage. One was when I was prego with Isaak. I was shaking like crazy. The guy who hit me said he had insurance. Apparently he wasn't making his payments on it. I had to pay my deductible and move on. They tried to reach him, but he lied about that as well.
