Motel Mondays With The Family

For the next few months, I'm going to be posting about our life adventures in a motel!2 adults and 3 teens sharing 1 motel room  with 1 bathroom (did I mention 2 of the teens are girls?) There will be humorous posts, drama posts, and posts of insanity....but it will all be fun! Did I mention that CL and I are sharing a motel room with our 3 teens? Find out why HERE!

Todays Monday post: Unforgettable Comments

Comments made during the big move:

"Next time we move I’m just packing my deodorant and scriptures!"

"Watching all my worldly possessions drive away in the U-Haul and me being left behind…I guess that’s what it’s like when we die only in reverse! "

The wisdom of a teenager:
Monday- "We've got plenty of time to pack!"

Tuesday – "I just got home from school, give me a break. I  can pack later."

-later that afternoon: "I think we should hurry and get everything packed by Thursday night so there’s not much to do on Friday." (her friend just called and is coming to help on Friday after school.)

-that evening: "What if we don’t get everything packed by Saturday?"

Comments made now that we're living in a motel:

JOKA: “Remember a couple of months ago when we prayed that we (meaning the kids) would learn to get along better?  Now we live together in one room…it’s like the Lord is teaching us!”

JOKA: “Mom, now that we’re moving away from all our friends, I need to get my own cell phone. That way I can text them and we can still stay friends.”
MOM: “Nope, you’re not getting a cell phone.”
JOKA: “Then how will I be able to visit with my old      friends?”
MOM: “Well, I guess you’ll have to do it the Old-fashioned way…use a regular telephone!”

"Why are you always touching me? You’re always touching me  I can’t stand you touching me anymore.  I’ve created a no-touching-me contract and you just better not touch me anymore."

"Seriously, do you have to throw my deodorant? You're acting like a little kid?"

(Note: the bathroom we're all sharing has a lock that doesn't work.)
Joka: "I'm going in the bathroom so nobody better come in."
Tatty: "I gotta come in for just a second."
Joka: "NO! You can't come in."
Tatty walks in anyway...
Joka:  "Tatty, you are so immature, I told you not to come in and you came in anyway."

CL: "Life is hard, but when you’re stupid it’s even harder!"(Spoken like a true father of 11 kids...hehehehe)

With just 2 of us in Las Vegas for 5 weeks and one bathroom.... It wasn't easy and neither of us slept that well.

  2. Ahhhh...the joys of family trips. Hotel room stays can always go either way can't they? With us, it's always looking forward to a night filled with elbows in our ribs and knees in our bellies as each of us sleeps with one of the kids as a "special treat."

  3. OHMYGOODNESS. I would not survive. I mean, I guess I would but not with all of my marbles. And that is with three kids - two who are not teenagers but tweens and a three year old who thinks she is a teenager. You rock!

  7. By the time this is over, you will have a whole book about it, and a really funny one, too. Reminding me of Erma Bombeck! This is making me so thankful for my nice house for sure, and no crowding!

  13. oh my goodness! that is so funny! I can seriously wait until I get teenagers, I know i'm not ready for that part! lol.

The lock seriously doesn't work!? With little kids that wouldn't be a problem, but with older kids, definitely would be.

I LOVE your husband's quote thought! lol

  15. Becky!! Those are really funny. I don't have a teenager yet BUT I can relate to their "wisdom" recalling my days as a teenager myself.

  17. wow, 3-4 months, Becky - good luck :)

I can totally relate to this. You know, back in the Philippines, I've been living with my parents and 5 other siblings with just 2 bedrooms and ONE bathroom for my entire 25 yrs of life.... so this has really made me chuckly because it made me re-live some of those funny and not so funny memories of living in a 60sq m house having to share ONE bathroom with 7 other people (whom luckily are my family) :-D

  18. I love the 'cell phone' part. Ahhh, the journey that looks ahead of you and with teenagers. I'm sure you're just hoping your house will be finished soon. Keeping you in my prayers...and remember there's never enough deodorant when kids are around. Have a wonderful week :) <3

  22. Hi Becky,

Can't wait to hear about your moving adventure. Sorry I haven't commented in awhile. Life has been crazy! You don't know anything about that, right?

    Love,

  24. Hi Becky,
My two children and I lived in a tiny boat in Durban harbour for a little over a year. No bathroom and no doors. Crowded wasn't the word, more like over crowded :)
We had an absolutely fabulous time together, not only did we learn to really love each other but we also learned how not to collect STUFF, no space. All three of us are now very close, non geographically, and non of has lots of STUFF. You are in for a life changing treat, I know, it happened to us.
Bless you and your tribe, Geoff.
