Todays Post: We will appreciate...
(NOTE: all of us contributed to this one)
- being able to walk away from the dinner table (having beds and the eating table in the same room is kinda weird; not exactly what I'd call 'breakfast in bed').
- not having the bathroom we ALL use right next to my bed.
- being able to be sick in my own bathroom.
- PRIVACY!
- knowing it's a family member and not a total stranger walking past my bedroom door.
- being able to cook food the way I WANT (not to sound ungrateful, but we are all miss our own cooking).
- doing laundry when we want and not having to do it at the laundromat.
- not having to get a stash of quarters from the bank just so I can wash my laundry.
- having my own space to listen to my music and watch what movies I want (imagine 2 computers and 3 ipads going at the same time in 1 room).
- FOOD in my own NORMAL sized fridge and pantry. (see photo below if you don't believe me. I mean, there's just only so much you can put in there) LOL
As I was posting these comments it occurred to me that every single one of them sound very selfish and rather trivial...and in reality they are. We have been truly blessed to have a place to be safe and warm.
Next weeks post will be about the things we'll miss after moving out of the motel...should be interesting to see what we come up with!
I think after being in a motel for this long.... all of you deserve to be a little selfish.... and by the way. It didn't sound selfish to me, but then I lived in a motel in Las Vegas for 5 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can do it with 3 kids who are probably bored. You are a saint!!

We've been here 5 weeks too, and the saga continues. It was helpful reading your posts about your stay.
DeleteI'm preparing a post to go up in a few weeks about keeping teens entertained...
I don't see how you have enough food in that fridge to feed our family for even one day, are you just eating out a lot? I will look forward to the next post....maybe your house will be done ahead of time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Ginny, food is a big deal here. I'll be posting about it in the near future...some miracles have occurred in connection with our food situation.
Deletelol on your breakfast in bed comment! You are putting a whole new spin on the scripture about being thankful in all circumstances. I so appreciate your heart to thank God no matter how trying or inconvenient your current life!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but be grateful. HE is showering our family with so many blessings. Even our trials are blessings for our family and me. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI had to laugh when I looked at the fridge and freezer....it looks like it belongs in a little doll house!!! Keep all these things so you can write a book later!!!
ReplyDeleteCL told the kids that instead of a real life sized fridge in the kitchen, we're getting them each a fridge/freezer like this for each of their rooms! You should have heard the cries of sheer terror! LOL
DeleteYou are so awesome. I do not think it's selfish to miss the privacy. A kitchen is also something I know I would miss dearly. I think we should all try to live with out the little things in life that we take for granted everyday. Then we would appreciate everything we have.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Bonnie. These little things were not noticed until they were gone. Happy Monday Sweetie!
Deleteeven still, I remember thinking each and every one of those! When we moved with the military from Germany to Kansas, and we ended up having to live in a hotel for 2 months while we waited for housing to come available. Only, I had 2 LITTLE boys and I was preggo. So it wasn't as bad as having teenagers. but still, we felt very much the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm still enjoying your stories. The food was the part we missed the most! Boy we all missed a good HOME COOKED and HEALTHY meal. We were so sick of fast food after the first week.
I don't know about that Amber. Being pregnant and 2 little kids running around wanting constant entertainment would be a BIG challenge. Is your husband still in the military? What branch did he serve in?
DeleteOh, I think that's a great idea about the fridge in the bedroom!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind one in my room. It would have to have a lock on it though, so I could hide my treats! LOL
DeleteWow. Sounds really fun. LOL
ReplyDeleteKaren, I missed seeing you when you came! How was your trip?
Deleteadventures :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not selfish to miss privacy at all! I know through our own moving adventures we came to the wall about things. While yes we adapted, we still really took account for how we had taken advantage of something we used to have. Makes you re-think. Makes you appreciate things a little more, so later on down the line it becomes something you know you can handle and it won't be a bother. I think that's what I like the most, that a person can go from being upset about something like...A Pantry since you are without at the moment. When they live without it for so long they realize what they miss about it. Further down the road though when they get it back and it occurs to them, that while it's great to have that pantry, they know they can live without and make do. It just makes you appreciate it that much more, and possibly even utilize it to it's fullest without waste. :)
I've actually designed 3 pantries in my kitchen and dining area. I know I'll appreciate them all!
DeleteCome and design mine!
DeleteI'd love to! I actually had the fun project of designing our entire house.
DeleteWith that tiny little fridge and a hungry family. I think you deserve a little credit, right. It should be over soon. When do you move in to your new house?
ReplyDeleteWe used to grocery shop once a week, now we do it 3-4 times a week because our little fridge can't hold much. Our General Contractor is saying we should be done building the latter part of May!
