It's Okay

Our move has brought me closer to a lot of things. CL's work, shops, neighbors, and more. But, one of the things I enjoy most about our move is now I'm living closer to some of my kids and grandkids.

Having my little 18 month old granddaughter over often has allowed me to do something I've really missed...seeing her in action! One thing I've noticed is that she is scared of 'Finding Nemo', and the lion that roars at the beginning of movies.

Whenever she gets frightened, she automatically says, "It's okay, it's okay." She repeats this over and over again until the scary moment has passed.

She has taught me a great lesson...when I'm scared, worried, or discouraged, I need to remember that 'It's okay', because I know my Father in Heaven is mindful of me. He will not give me more than I can handle without giving me a way out, and all things will work for my good. I especially like this scripture found in the Book of Mormon:

1 Nephi 3:7  And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

All the time my granddaughter is saying, 'It's okay," her voice is trembling and she has a worried look on her face. I guess she's trying to convince herself. Like most of us, we need to convince ourselves that no matter how deep our trials and fears are, IT'S OKAY!

My greatest growth has come from my own trials. The deeper the trial, the greater the growth, and since I want to grow and return to my Heavenly Father, I've learned that trials are OKAY!  I have found comfort in the scriptures and in personal prayer with my Heavenly Father. I know he lives and loves me too, therefore it is okay.

If you're facing a scary lion, remember the words, IT'S OKAY.

  10. What a beautiful message. I often forget the extra part, where the "way out" as you stated, doesn't really mean that the trial will be taken away and all will return to the happy perfect state you were before. But that we must trudge forward knowing the Lord is by our side helping us bare the burden of the trial and all will work out according to our needs in the end. <3

  11. You have a wise grand daughter and I'm sure she has learned that from her mom or grandma. I often tell myself that to remind me that there is always someone that can handle my fears.

  12. Yes, this is something we definitely need to remember. He never gives us more than we can handle. And he's always there for us. Great post! Your granddaughter sounds like a cutie! Glad you are able to spend more time with her!

  13. My youngest does this as well. She is easily frightened and she'll end up saying it to herself as she runs to me. So even by the time I start saying it, she's halfway calmed down already. It's cute when I accidently stub my toe or something, she'll run up to me "Mom it's ok, it's ok!" :)

  14. So easy to forget that our Father in heaven has already made the way for us. I sometimes think that I am doing it on my own which leads to stress and worry. I thik I shall remeber your grand daughter and her mantra."It's okay."

  15. Kids are always smarter than we think. Plus, you have to have trials to get thicker and thicker skin for life;) You're just not living unless you are challenged.
