Health Benifits of Owning a Pet

The inspiration for this post came unexpectedly.
Several years ago, we had to give up our favorite cat because we were moving and couldn't bring her with us. Tilly had been a part of our family for over 14 years. It was a difficult decision. She had brought a calming affect to our home of 11 rambunctious kids. She was quiet, unobtrusive. - just always there.

  2. How I miss my dear Stalin! He passed away last year, but he left us with lots of wonderful memories. I still haven't found a new dog to replace him. I don't have the heart to do so.

  4. My first pet, Boots, was my constant companion. When I cried tears of tween angst, he'd lick them off my face. He slept at my head and was such a comfort. Our next cat, Furball, joined us soon after our wedding. She, too, was a comfort. Today I have Daisy, a dog of all things! She adores me. (Of course!!!) When my mind races at night, I snuggle her close.

I don't know why pets are so calming, but I am glad God thought to provide them.

    1. The tween years are one of the best times for kids to have a pet - unconditional acceptance is something they need lots of. I'm glad HE made them too. We had a dog named Daisy while I was growing up...Furball is a fun name for a cat!

  7. I remember having a pet dog way back when I was 11. I used to look forward to coming home from school to play with him. Maybe I should get myself a pet now, so I won't feel so alone whenever my daughter's away for the weekend at her Dad's.

    1. Great observation Pepper Tan, I got a little dog to keep me company when all the kids were in school. She's my little comfort pal! Your daughter will love having an extra friend during the week too!

  8. I have so many pets I would not know where to start. I totally agree pets help us heal faster. They can also give you exercise if you have the right pet.

  10. I can't get too attached to our goldfish in the pond, because they always get eaten by a predator. This year they had babies, which was really unusual. I hope some of those little guys can make it!
